11 GeoZone 'A' Analyser

11.1 Analyser Installation

The analysers are usually mounted directly onto the protected surface using the
mounting bar kit supplied. It is important to place the analysers where they can be
easily accessed for the purpose of commissioning and system adjustment.
The analysers are provided with two PG9 glands, one for the incoming GDALPHA
sensor cable and one for the outgoing alarm signal and power cable. This cable should
be a screened, three pair twisted cable and the screen connected to ground at the
power supply only.

11.2 Power Requirements

Each individual analyser requires a nominal 12V dc supply and consumes no more
than 35 mA. The analysers will however operate correctly over a supply voltage range
of 10V to 24V dc.

11.3 Power Supply Cable

When choosing a wire size to feed power to the analyser the maximum loop resistance
should not exceed 80 Ω assuming a 12V dc power supply. This translates into a cable
distance of approximately 500m, using 7 x 0.2mm conductor size, with a loop
resistance value of 160 Ω/km.
To avoid deterioration of the service cable, ensure that the cable selected is suitable for
exposure to the environment in which it is installed.
