Safety Precautions:
It is necessary to follow these safety precautions, each time, prior to using the product.
The Safety Precautions is not limited to, but must include the following items;
1. Do not use the air conditioner for anything other than its intended use.
2. Never handle energized power cords with wet hands. Never lay power or extension cords in any water or liquids.
Also, locate all cords so that they will not fall inadvertently into any water or liquids.
3. Check all power & extension cords for damage. Never use electrical cords with frayed, cut or brittle insulation. Check
for sound connections to the air conditioner and power supply.
4. All extension cords must be 12 gauge, 3-conductor cord or larger for lengths up to 25 feet. For lengths over 25 feet,
10 gauge or larger must be used. It is not recommended to use an extension cord over 50 feet in length.
5. Power should be supplied through a GFCI-equipped receptacle or circuit breaker rated at 20 Amps and dedicated for
the use of the air conditioner only.
6. When used as ventilation for manholes & confined spaces, take precautions to keep ventilation hoses and extension
cords out of the walkways in order to eliminate tripping hazards and the possibility of them becoming dislodged for
the air conditioner unit.
7. Prior to operation, ensure that the unit is positioned on firm and level ground. If there is any question of stability, use
a tie off from the top of the unit to stake into the ground. Do not stack items around the base of the air conditioner
unit. Ventilation air is required for the compressor and electrical components located at the base of the machine.
8. When utilizing the PELAIR unit for Confined Space ventilation, the personnel using the equipment are required to
have proper training for confined spaces and to follow all OSHA regulations. Allow proper purge time and check air
quality before entering the manhole or confined space. The air quality must be continuously monitored during the
entire entry period.
9. Locate the unit upwind from the intended ventilation area and ensure that no other hazardous atmosphere will be
drawn into the inlet during operation.
10. As with any refrigeration system, the PELAIR Air Conditioner contains a chemical refrigerant (Freon). Commercial
refrigerant is a strictly controlled substance and can only be handled and service by a licensed technician. Do not
attempt to modify or service the refrigerant circuit unless properly certified. Handling of refrigerants requires adher-
ence to a specific set of safety precautions that will not be addressed within this manual.
! CAUTION ! - Be sure that the air conditioner is disconnected from the power source before
performing any maintenance or repair work on the system.
! CAUTION ! - Check all power cords for cuts, frayed ends, or brittle insulation. See parts list
for replacement part numbers if necessary.
! CAUTION ! - The user must ensure that the air conditioner is located where it cannot fall
into water inadvertently and that the extension cords and plug will remain dry and secure during
operation.
