Nose Operation

Do not put fingers through holes in
elbow unit. Rotating parts may cut off
fingers.
Failure to observe this warning could
result in severe injury or death.
Pivot Nose Operation
The nose unit pivots and locks at various degrees of
rotation. It is locked in place by the detent pin assembly.
Disengaging the pins allows the nose to pivot and line
the clamp up with the conduit.
Before pivoting, be sure to support the shoulder weld-
ment. To pivot, squeeze the grips on the detent pins
fully inward.
Make sure the detent pins on both sides are fully
retracted before trying to pivot. Release the grips when
the desired pivot angle is reached, and pivot slightly
more to ensure both detents engage in the closest
holes.
When the detent pins are squeezed to the fully inward
position, they can be locked in place by twisting them
counterclockwise.
Never pull cable with the detent pins locked inward; the
nose must be locked from pivoting before pulling.

Swivel Nose Operation
To allow for any pull direction, the nose swivels com-
pletely about the upper boom weldment with stops
every 90°.
To swivel the nose:
1. Pull the ball knob to unlock the swivel.
2. Swivel the nose to the correct position for the pull.
3. Release the knob to lock the orientation of the nose.
Note: Always make sure the pin is engaged before
transporting the unit.
Clamp Operation
Make full contact with clamp shoul-
der onto conduit.
Failure to observe this warning could
result in severe injury or death.
Note: Clamp is only rated for 2" to 4" conduit
The clamp is what grips the conduit during the pull. It
is the anchoring system of a G6 pulling system. Rather
than tansferring pull force through a floor-mount bolted
into cement, the pull force is counteracted by the
conduit itself. It is therefore critical that the setup of this
component is not overlooked.
The clamp functions by tightly gripping the wall of the
conduit below the nose shoulders. Always ensure both
shoulders are contacting the end face of the conduit.
A faulty clamp connection could result in excessive
conduit damage, personal injury, or death.
To loosen the clamp, turn the knob counterclockwise.
To tighten, turn the knob clockwise. To eliminate any
excess play in the clamped connection, rock the nose
forward and back while firmly tightening the knob by
hand.
Nose Handle Operation
The nose is equipped with folding handles to ease
transportation and setup. Handles can be used to
extend the boom as well as provide additional hand-
holds for transportation and attachment to conduit.
Handles can be folded out of the way to fit the nose into
tight spaces.
To adjust the handles:
1. Pull the ball knobs to disengage the pin.
2. Rotate the handles to the desired position.
3. Be sure pins are engaged in the handle prior to
using handle.
