REDUCE DOUBLE IMAGES USING A MEGA LIVE MASK
1. Determine Whether to Install the Mask
When operating your MEGA Live Imaging transducer under certain conditions and
at higher angles (40° to 60°) in Forward Mode, your sonar return may include faint
double images caused by the beams bouncing off the surface of the water. If you are
repeatedly experiencing double images, apply an included mask to your transducer
using the following instructions.
2. Install the Mask
Use the instructions below to apply your mask. For additional information, a video
tutorial is available at https://humminbird.com/mega-live-starter-guide.
1. Determine the transducer angle you will be using most frequently (see your MEGA
Live Imaging operations manual for more information). For use at 50° or 60°, use
a long mask (7/8"). For use at 40°, use a short mask (1/2").
If you plan to switch between angles frequently, Humminbird recommends using
the short mask (1/2").
2. Clean your transducer with rubbing alcohol. Remove the backing from the mask
and press the adhesive side firmly into place against the side of the transducer
that will face up (as shown in the illustration MEGA Live Mask Placement).
NOTE: The side of the transducer that will face up is dependent on whether the
transducer is installed on the port or starboard side of the trolling motor. Two sets
of unique port and starboard masks are included with your accessory. Each set is
contoured to fit one side of the transducer.
