Troubleshooting - Kenmore BC3002 Use & Care Manual

Review this table to find do-it-yourself solutions for minor performance problems. Any other
service needed should be performed by a Kenmore or other qualified service agent.
WARNING
Always turn off and unplug vacuum cleaner before performing maintenance to the
vacuum cleaner. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or personal injury.
PROBLEM
Vacuum cleaner won't
start.
Poor job of dirt pick-up.
Vacuum cleaner starts
but shuts off.

TROUBLESHOOTING

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Unplugged at wall outlet.
Tripped circuit breaker/blown
fuse at household service panel.
Loose hose electrical connections.
Full or clogged dust bag.
Clogged airflow passages.
Dirty filters.
Wrong pile height setting.
Wrong suction control position
selected.
Hole in hose.
Worn PowerMate ® brushroll.
Worn or broken belt.
Dirty brushroll or end caps.
Canister hood open.
Tripped overload protector in
PowerMate . See OVERLOAD
®

Hose or hood electrical
connections.
Tripped overload protector in

Tripped thermal protector in
canister.
PowerMate ® connections unplugged. Plug in firmly.
Worn or broken belt.
Dirty brushroll or end caps.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Plug in firmly, press On/Off button.
Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
Reconnect hose ends.
Change the dust bag.
Clear airflow passages.
Clean/change filters.
Adjust setting.
Adjust suction control.
Replace hose.
Change brushroll.

Close and latch hood.
Remove any items that may be caught or
jammed, then re-start. If vacuum cleaner
starts and stops again, clean brushroll and
end caps, then re-start.
