6. Install a new oil filter element and
new O-rings.
TIP
Make sure that the O-rings are properly
seated.
7. Install the oil filter element cover
and bolts. Tighten the bolts to the
specified torque.
Tightening torque:
Oil filter element cover bolt:
10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7.4 lb·ft)
8. Install the engine oil drain bolt with
a new gasket, and then tighten the
bolt to the specified torque.
Tightening torque:
Engine oil drain bolt:
20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft)
9. Refill with the specified amount of
the recommended engine oil.
10. Check the O-ring for damage, and
then install the oil filler cap.

11. Loosen the bleed bolt.

12. Start the engine and let it idle until
oil flows out, then close the bleed
bolt. NOTICE: If engine oil does
not flow out after 1 minute, stop

the engine immediately. Have
your Yamaha dealer inspect the
vehicle before further use.
13. Tighten the bleed bolt to the spec-
ified torque.
Tightening torque:
Bleed bolt:
10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7.4 lb·ft)
14. For several minutes, continue to
let the engine idle while checking
for oil leaks. If any leakage is
found, stop the engine and check
for the cause.
15. Turn the engine off, wait a few min-
utes for the oil to settle, and then
check the oil level one last time.

TIP
Wipe off any spilled oil after the engine
and exhaust system have cooled down.
