2. Hydraulic System
To maintain the maximum operating effi ciency in the precision parts of the hydraulic system,
it is extremely important to eliminate factors which can cause breakdowns or unsatisfactory
performance in the system. Among the most common of these factors are rust, corrosion,
contamination and products of oil deterioration. Most problems can be minimized or avoided
simply by maintaining a disciplined preventive maintenance program.
Some simple steps to follow as part of that program are:
a. Keep stored oil dry and clean at all times and always store in clean containers.
b. Always clean tools, spouts, lids, funnels, etc. when used in conjunction with the transfer
of oil.
c. Never put dirty oil into the hydraulic system. Use only clean, uncontaminated oil of the
types recommended below. Never return to the system any fl uid which has leaked out.

d. Clean or replace fi lter elements at the fi rst indication that they are dirty or ineffective.
