Point-to-Point (CRTX, LPTX)
Straightaway testing in the loop and carrier direction
is also available using the internal pattern generator
and checker. The direction and test activation is
controlled by the DB-9 interface.
The following provides an example of how to initiate
a straightaway B1 test in the carrier direction on DSL
7 via the DB-9 terminal. Navigate through the menu
as follows:
TEST >> ISDN LOOPBACKS AND BERT
TESTING >> DSL 7
Perform the following steps to invoke the test:
• Type "B" to select the B1 BERT TEST.
• Type "R" to select the Carrier Direction.
• Type "S" to start the Loopback test.
The screen will update the Test Status to indicate a B1
CRTX test is in progress. The screen will also begin to
update the count for the Total Number of Bits
transmitted. For the BERT to run error free it is
necessary to invoke a front panel loopback at the
Remote DSL (across the T1 carrier) for DSL 7. Any
errors that occur will be indicated in the Error Bits
section. If the loopback is dropped downstream for
any reason the screen will keep track of this in the
Lost Sync section. To reset the BERT counters, type
"0" (zero).
To deactivate the test, navigate through the menu as
follows:
TEST >> ISDN LOOPBACKS AND BERT
TESTING >> DSL 7
Perform the following step to deactivate the test:
• Type "S" again to terminate the test.
Local Performance Monitoring
Performance monitoring of the local T1 carrier system
and each U-interface is also available via the DB-9
interface.
To look at the local Performance Monitoring of the T1
carrier system, navigate the menu as follows:
PERFORMANCE >> DSX PERFORMANCE
The DSX Performance screen provides the following
PM History in both the Near End and Far End
Directions: Errored Second and Severely Errored
Second data (24 Hour and 15 Minute Registers).
To see the local Performance Monitoring of all 10
ISDN DSLs, navigate through the menu as follows:
PERFORMANCE >> ISDN PERFORMANCE
61250110L1-5D
The ISDN Performance screen provides the following
PM History in both the Customer and Network
Directions: Block Errors, Errored Second, and
Severely Errored Second data for each ISDN DSL
(Hourly and Daily Registers).
The Menu Navigation Section shows replicas
of the DSX and ISDN Performance screens.
