Troubleshooting

Problem
Low heat / Low flame.
Excessive flare-ups/uneven
heat.
"Paint" appears to be
peeling inside lid or hood.

Possible Causes Solution
Improper preheating. Allow charcoal to burn until covered with a light
grey ash. (usually 20-25min).
Not enough airflow. Open Vents.
Low charcoal. Add more charcoal to the charcoal tray.
Lid being opened to Allow food to cook with the lid closed. Every time
frequently. the lid is removed, the temperature drops. This
leads to lower temperatures and longer cooking
times.
Improper preheating. Preheat grill with lid closed for 20 - 25 mins and
spread coals around evenly.
Excessive grease and Clean ash/drip pan regularly. Do not line pan with
ash build up in ash/ aluminum foil. Refer to cleaning instructions.

by hardened grease, which dries into paint-like
shards that will flake off. Regular cleaning will
