4.5 GFS Trouble Shooting

Symptom
GFS master switch on, GFS gauge
wheel does not drop to ground, no
green lights in cab
When GFS master turned on, no
action
During start of field test, green cab
light comes on, boom won t drop
During start of field test, green cab
light comes on, boom wheel drops 6
ft in less than 2 seconds
GFS gauge wheel stays up in air for
too long (50 ft ) after crest of rise
24
Possible cause
Check that the DOWN boom control
switch for that side has been tapped
Green indicator light on the electrical
control box at rear of machine should
be lit when there is 12vDC + to the in
cab control and GFS master switch
turned on.
Blown fuse in the circuit
Input wire disconnected near in cab
control,
Green light indicates there is power
being sent from the in cab control to
the solenoid valve for that side of
GFS.
Check for magnetism at GFS coil for
that side
Pressure in GFS valve too low
Pressure in GFS too high
Possible solution
Tap DOWN switch, green light should
come on, boom should drop
Replace fuse in power source
Check voltage present into cab
control box
If no green LED on electronic module
when power to the module, replace
the module (part # 227548)
If no magnetism, check for 12v on
coil and circuit back
***If magnetism, consider lowering
system pressure by turning set screw
CCW 1/12 turn on GFS valve
Reduce boom weight by washing off
mud and crop residue
***Increase pressure by turning set
screw on GFS valve 1/12 turn CW
***Consider lowering system
pressure by turning set screw CCW
1/12 turn on GFS valve
