can also take the appliance to a Philips service centre. The staff of this
centre will remove the batteries for you and will dispose of them in
an environmentally safe way (Fig. 25).
removing the rechargeable batteries
Only remove the rechargeable batteries if they are completely empty.
Never let the rechargeable batteries come into contact with metal.
Remove the rechargeable batteries in the following way.
Let the vacuum cleaner run until it stops.

Try to switch on the appliance again to check if the batteries are really
empty. If the motor starts, repeat the procedure.
Loosen and remove the screws. Open the vacuum cleaner (Fig. 26).

Put the motor unit with the batteries still attached in a large bowl

with 3 litres of water and 3 teaspoons of salt.
Make sure the whole motor unit is immersed. Add more water and

salt according to the above proportion (1 teaspoon salt to 1 litre of
water) if needed.

Leave the motor unit and the batteries in the bowl for 24 hours.
Cut the connecting wires one by one and remove the

batteries (Fig. 27).
