Operation (cont'd)
Power Transmitter
The Power Transmitter Function
relies on the internal battery to
power the circuit (12 volts DC
nominal at 24 mA) while simulta-
neously reading the current.
1.
Disconnect one or both of the
input wires to the 2-wire
transmitter to be calibrated.
2.
Select POWER TRANSMITTER
and press the MODE button until PWR XMTR appears on the display.
3.
Press the mA / % button to select current or percent.
4.
Connect the red lead to the positive (+) side of the circuit; connect the black lead to the
negative (–) side of the circuit.
5.
Connect an appropriate sensor or calibrator to the input of the 2-wire transmitter.
6.
Calibrate the transmitter in the usual manner.
Valve Setup
Proper valve setup requires setting the end stops. Select either SOURCE or 2-WIRE
SIMULATOR to control the valve. Refer to the corresponding illustration.
1.
Disconnect the control loop's 4 mA to 20 mA control wires from the current-to-pressure
(I/P) converter or actuator.
2.
Connect the IPM-100 to the device.
3.
Press the 0% / 4 mA button and adjust the fully closed stop on the actuator.
4.
Slowly turn the control knob counterclockwise and verify that the actuator and valve do
not move. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the stop is set correctly.
5.
Press the 0% / 4 mA button again and turn the control knob clockwise. The actuator and
valve should move.
6.
Press the 100% / 20 mA button and adjust the fully open stop on the actuator.
7.
Slowly turn the control knob clockwise and verify that the actuator and valve do not move.
Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until the stop is set correctly.
8.
Press the 100% / 20 mA button again and turn the control knob counterclockwise. The
