Installing and Replacing the Sensor and Filter
Before leak testing, the appropriate sensor and tip must be installed. The blue tip must be used with the
refrigerant sensor and the red tip must be used with the combustible gas sensor. Over time, the sensors
become less responsive to gas as they near their useful life and must be replaced.
The probe filter is designed to keep dust, dirt, and water from entering the sensor area.
Replace the filter whenever it becomes clogged, which is indicated by the lack of response with a known
source of the gas to be tested. If the filter is covered with water, remove it and dry it off.
Exchanging, Installing, or
Replacing Sensor
1. Turn the unit off.
2. Unscrew the probe tip.
3. Insert the appropriate
sensor, making sure its tab
lines up with the notch.
4. Screw on the correct tip.
5. Turn the unit on and test it
on its corresponding gas.
Replacing the Filter
1. Follow steps 1 and 2 under Installing the Sensor.
2. Remove the filter by doing one of the following.
Refrigerant sensor: Remove filter from top of sensor.
Combustible gas sensor: Remove filter from probe tip (use a straightened paper clip).
3. Insert a replacement filter.
4. Re-install the probe tip.

Explosion hazard:
Do not use the unit with its refrigerant sensor installed in a location where
a potential for explosion or fire exists because of flammable gases or
vapors in the atmosphere.
Failure to observe this warning will result in severe injury or death.
