    This guide describes the Tellabs ONT180C optical network terminal (ONT), its features, status indicators, installation. The ONT180C is part of the Tellabs 100 series of ONTs for passive optical networks (PON). It is a compact desktop unit that can sit on a desk, mounted to any number of surfaces using a wall mount bracket (optional).

  • Page 25 Physical Installation Desktop Installation The ONT180C can simply be placed on top of a desk, a table, a shelf, or any similar object. An optional Wall Mounting Bracket can be used to store excess fiber cable length under the ONT as it sits on a desk or other surface.
  • Page 26 ONT180C Installation and Turnup Guide Storing Excess Optical Fiber Cable Length Inside the Bracket If the optical fiber cable is a little long, the excess can be wound around guides molded inside the Wall Mounting Bracket before the ONT is attached. This prevents cable bend radii that are less than optimum.
  • Page 27 Powering the ONT180C DC power for the Tellabs ONT180C can be provided by one of two optional desktop adapters (150-W and 81-W power bricks) at the point of installation, or by a remote bulk DC power supply.

If a downstream optical signal is not seen, the PON Indicator LED will be solid red. This may indicate that the PON port is disabled, failed, or a bad cable between the OLT and ONT.
