    Preparation Accessory information Thank you for purchasing a new Panasonic digital cordless phone. Dear Purchaser, You have acquired a product made in compliance with the digital enhanced cordless telecommunications (DECT) standard. DECT technology is characterized by high-security protection against interceptions as well as high-quality digital transmission. This telephone was designed for a wide range of applications.

    If 074 flashes even when the handset batteries have been fully charged, both batteries must be replaced. Important: L Please use only the Panasonic batteries, noted on page 3. L Use only rechargeable batteries. If you install non-rechargeable batteries and start charging, the batteries may leak electrolyte.

    Setting the time and date Important: L Confirm that the AC adaptor is connected. L Ensure that w is not flashing. Press {j}. Press {v} repeatedly to display “SETTING BS”, then press {>}. Press {*}. Enter the current hour and minute by selecting 2 digits for each (24-hour time entry).

    Telephone Telephone Making calls Lift the handset and dial the phone number. L To correct a digit, press {C/T}, then enter the correct number. Press {C}. When finished talking, press {ih} or place the handset on the base unit. Speakerphone The handset features a digital speakerphone, which allows you to have hands-free conversations.

    Telephone Recording a telephone conversation (KX-TCD445 only) You can record your conversation while on an outside call. Important: L All persons using this device for recording telephone conversations shall comply with New Zealand law. This requires that at least one party to the conversation is to be aware that it is being recorded.

    Phonebook Storing phone numbers and names Up to 20 phone numbers can be stored in the phonebook for quick access. Press {j} 2 times. Enter a phone number (24 digits max.). L Each number stored in the phonebook will be given an index number (01–20). This number will be shown to the left of the stored phone number.

    Answering System Features (KX-TCD445 only) Answering system The KX-TCD445 base unit contains an answering system which can answer and record calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone. You can also record your own voice memos and phone conversations.

    Memory capacity The total recording capacity (including your greeting message, caller messages, voice memos, and recorded conversations) is about 20 minutes.
