PRODUCT MANUAL & INSTALLATION GUIDE
POSITIVE AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM
CAUTION:
To reduce the risk of fire and to properly exhaust air, be sure to duct air outside - Do not
exhaust into spaces within walls or ceilings or into attics, crawl spaces, or garages.
WARNING:
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
a) Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards,
including fire-rated construction.
b) Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent
back drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer's guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National
Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE),
and the local code authorities.
c) When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
d) Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
e) If this unit is to be installed over a tub or shower, it must be marked as appropriate for the application and be connected to a GFCI
(Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) - protected branch circuit.
The Multi-Aire IIP is a fresh air supply system that will bring fresh air in from the outside, filter it, and distribute it through
ducts to the living and sleeping areas in the home.
The Multi-Aire IIN is a central ducted exhaust system that can be used as a multi-port bathroom exhaust fan. It could
also be used as a small whole house fan.
Locating the Multi-Aire. Since air-flow is reduced as it moves through ducting, the duct runs should be kept as short
and straight as possible. It may be installed in a remote location such as an attic space, mechanical room, crawl space, in
a closet or laundry room.
The Multi-Air IIP's filter needs to be checked regularly. How often you change the filter will depend on how much the fan is
used and the local conditions.
Precautions. If installed in an unheated space, in cold climates, there is a possibility of condensation forming in the
housing or ducting components. Insulated ducting must be used where exposed to cold attic or crawl space temperatures,
to avoid condensation in the ducting. Condensation can also be avoided by continuously operating the fan.
Installation:
Before you start installing the Multi-Aire IIP, you should be sure that there is reasonable access to change or check the
filter. Note that the cover on the top of the unit is latched on the front and on the back..
The Multi-Air IIP's outlets should be located in bedrooms or central living spaces to insure a constant supply of controlled
fresh make-up air. Although the air flow can be adjusted, this will allow the outside air to blend with the room air and reduce
any chance of appreciable drafts by incoming, un-tempered air.
The intake hood, mounted outside the building, should have no backdraft damper but should have an animal screen.
The fresh air supply should be located more than six feet from a building exhaust of any kind.
The Multi-Air IIN's exhaust hood, mounted outside the building, should have a backdraft damper.
