DIGITAL OUTGOING AND INCOMING MESSAGES
The outgoing and incoming messages are recorded on digital chips, which reduce mechanical
components and increase reliability. The TC-540 allows 14 minutes total of outgoing and incoming
message recording time. Install a 9 volt battery in the base unit to protect outgoing and incoming
messages in case of a power failure. (See battery installation page 32.)
OUTGOING MESSAGE BYPASS
Frequent callers can skip your outgoing message when they call to leave a message. Instruct them
to press # on their touchtone keypad any time after the TC-540 answers their call.
AUTO EXTENSION DISCONNECT
You can answer a call from any extension phone connected to the same line as the TC-540. Pick
up any extension phone after the TC-540 has answered the call. The unit will automatically stop
playing your outgoing message or recording a message. If it does not stop, briefly press and
release the hook-switch on the extension phone.
LINE-IN-USE INDICATOR
A green indicator on the base unit lets you know if the phone line is being used. It illuminates when
the cordless handset, the base unit speakerphone, or an extension phone connected to the same
line is in use.
