Setting Up for the Media Function

The Media function (using the Media button on the
remote control) provides you a simple way to connect
your TV to your PC or online services to do the
following:
View photos

Watch videos
■
Listen to music
■
Access online services for music, videos, or photos
■
Before you can use the Media function, you must
complete these actions in the following order:
Connect the TV to your PC with a wired (Ethernet
■
802.3) or wireless (Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g)
connection through a router in an established
LAN. Refer to "Connecting the TV to your home
network (LAN)" on page 16.
Complete initial setup of the TV; see "Using the
■
First-Time Setup Wizard" on page 23 or "Starting
EZ Setup" on page 52.
Use the remote control to select settings for wired
■
or wireless connection to your network, as
described in this section.

Install the Microsoft Windows
■
software on your PC, as described in this section.
Complete the software setup, as described in this
■
section.
The Microsoft Windows Media Connect network
software uses your PC LAN connection to communicate
with the TV. You can view a list of the content in
preselected folders on your PC that contain your
photos, videos, and music. This program, installed on
your PC, provides networking services by streaming
music, video, or picture files to the local area network
(LAN) connected to the TV. Windows Media Connect
must be installed and operating with the network, and
the TV must be allowed in the software to select or
view content on the TV.

You can install Microsoft Windows Media
Connect on multiple PCs to view and listen
on your TV to the media files that they
store. The TV and each PC must be
connected to your LAN.

Verifying the TV connections

Before starting, check that the TV is connected to the
LAN router, and the TV and network equipment are
both powered on. Refer to "Connecting the TV to your
home network (LAN)" on page 16 for instructions to
connect the TV to the network.

Completing the initial TV setup

The initial setup must be completed on your TV before
proceeding with the Media settings. If you canceled
the wizard when you turned on the TV for the first time,
run the EZ setup again using the Setup menu; see
"Starting EZ Setup" on page 52.
