2 System description
The system consists of three main components:
A: two or three collectors,
B: the insulated piping and
C: a solar cylinder with integrated pump and control
system.
Collectors A
The collectors are auroTHERM VFK 135 D flat collectors
(17) with serpentine absorbers. A sensor fixed in the col-
lector (18) measures the collector temperature.
Piping B
The system piping consists of the flow (1) and return
(16) lines. Inside the house the lines are installed side-
by-side in an insulating jacket, which also encloses the
line for the collector sensor (18). This assembly is also
known as the "2 in 1 solar copper pipe". To make the
connection on the roof, the copper pipes have their in-
sulation removed and are cut to the appropriate length,
lagged individually and then fixed to the collector using
compression couplings.

Note!
As the pipelines are dimensioned in accordance
with DIN 1988, use only copper piping with an
internal diameter of 8.4 mm for piping the
system.
Vaillant recommends the easy to install "2 in 1
solar copper pipe", available as an accessory in
10 m lengths (Part No. 302359) or in 20 m
lengths (Part No. 302360), with which the
system operates optimally and reliably.
In addition, comply with the Energy
Conservation Regulation (EnEV) and the DVGW
working sheet W551.
Solar cylinder C
The VIH SN 350/3 iP, VIH SN 350/3 MiP, VEH SN 350/3
iP and VEH SN 350/3 iP-c cylinders have a filling volume
of 350 l.
The solar heat exchanger (8) is located in the lower sec-
tion of the cylinder. This heat exchanger is connected to
the collector circuit. The heating heat exchanger (7) in
the upper section is used for post-heating by means of a
connected boiler (5), if the solar radiation is insufficient.
The two cylinder sensors (6) and (9) report the respec-
tive measured temperatures to the control system (3),
which is integrated into the cylinder. Other components
integrated into the cylinder unit are the collector pumps
(13) and (15), which enable the solar fluid to circulate
through the solar circuit, an expansion relief valve (11)
and two fill/drain taps (12) and (14). The cylinder itself
stores domestic hot water, which flows in through the
cold water pipe (2) and flows out again, heated, through
the hot water pipe (5).
