These alarms may, under certain circumstances, be masked by Network Control. This means that
when the alarm condition is present, the alarm screen will not display. This will happen only in
unusual circumstances, but if you have any problems which you cannot resolve, call Network
Control for assistance.
The alarm screens are shown at the bottom of Figure 3-3. If more than one alarm screen can be
displayed, then the priority is (highest to lowest):
a. [HARDWARE ERROR] (A hardware error has been detected by the unit.)
b. [NO PC CARD] (No PC Card is detected by the unit.)
c. [CARD NOT FORMAT] (PC Card is not formatted)
d. [PC CARD FULL] (No more spots can be recorded.)
e. [SERR S:XXXL:XXXX] (Schedule Error)
f. [AUDIO SQUELCHED] (Satellite Receiver audio output squelched)
g. [AUDIO CLIPPING] (Shown during recording when audio input level is too high.
1. The [HARDWARE ERROR] alarm is shown when any hardware error, other than "b-g"
above, is detected from the internal audio processing card. It will display until the user
presses either <ENTER> or <SELECT>.
2. The [NO PC CARD] or [CARD NOT FORMAT] screens are shown when the unit does
not detect a PC Card, or when the Card is not formatted. These are displayed only when
that condition is detected, and the unit is commanded to record, delete, or play back a
spot (or format a PC card for [NO PC CARD] alarm). Unit software will clear the alarm
if the condition is no longer detected. Also, the alarm is cleared if a record, delete,
playback, or format command is successfully executed.
3. [PC CARD FULL] is displayed if the unit is commanded to record a spot, but there is not
room for it on the memory card.
4. The [SCHEDULE ERROR] alarm will display if a Schedule file cannot be completely
executed because of program errors. It will be displayed until cleared by a direct network
command.
There are actually several variations of the [SCHEDULE ERROR] alarm screen. If you
see one of these, write it down exactly as displayed, call Network Control (or other site,
as directed), and tell them the message. All of these have to do with errors in transmitting
or receiving the schedule, and can only be resolved with Network assistance.
5. The [AUDIO SQUELCHED] screen displays only while the squelch is detected on the
serial port.
