Troubleshooting Tips

Save time and money! Review the chart on this page
first and you may not need to call for service.
Problem
Burners do not light
Burners have yellow or
yellow-tipped flames or
flames lift off the port
Flames too high or too
low at the LOW setting
Possible Causes
Plug on cooktop is not
completely inserted in the
electrical outlet.
Gas supply not connected
or turned on.
A fuse in your home may be
blown or the circuit breaker
tripped.
Igniter orifice in burner body
may be clogged.
Burner parts not replaced
correctly.
Hole in burner top behind
the igniter may be clogged.
The combustion quality of
burner flames needs to be
determined visually.
Air shutter needs to
be adjusted.
Burner parts not replaced
correctly.
Adjust the low flame setting.
What To Do
• Make sure electrical plug is plugged into a live, properly
grounded outlet.
• See the Installation Instructions section.
• Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
• Remove the obstruction.
• See Sealed Burner Modules in the Care and cleaning
of the cooktop section.
• Use a small sewing needle to unplug.
• Use the illustrations below to determine if your burner
flames are normal. If burner flames look like A, adjust
the air shutter. Normal burner flames should look like B.
A–Yellow flames
Adjust the air shutter
• Close the shutter on
the mixer tube until
the flames settle on
the burner ports.
• See Care and cleaning of the cooktop section.
1.Light the top burners
and continue turning
all of the surface knobs
to LOW.
2.Remove all 4 knobs.
3.With a small flat-blade
screwdriver, turn the valve
set screws clockwise to
decrease flame size,
counterclockwise to increase
flame size. Adjust until the flame is about
the same height as the top of the burner.
4.Replace the knobs.
