Take a pair of tweezers and heat both sides of the IC in quick succession with the soldering iron until it can be easily removed. One may remove the capacitors as show, but it is not necessary. Clean all with desoldering wire and alcohol . conductor track at red line.

Add shrinking tube (here transparent)... Or cut the original case with a saw... Now the Hard-ware part is done. Some use may need to invert the TX and RX line of the FTDI chip. This can easily be done bei a Software tool provided bei FTDI, FT_PROG (http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Utilities.htm#FT_Prog).
