Problems

ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
Possible Causes
1. Coolant pump malfunction.
2. Thermostat faulty.
3. Radiator inefficient.
4. Deposits in cylinder head and
crankcase coolant passages.
5. Coolant pump and fan drive belt
slack.
6. Coolant level low.
7. Incorrect engine timing.
8. Injection pump calibration incor‐
rect - delivering too much or too
little fuel.
9. Air filter clogged.
1. Injection pump timing incorrect.
2. Auto advance regulator in injec‐
tion pump damaged.
3. Control valve journal worn.
4. Injection pump delivery irregular. Overhaul injection pump and adjust
5. All-speed governor damaged.
6. Injectors partially obstructed or
damaged.
7. Impurities or water in fuel lines.
Solutions
Overhaul
pump
and
necessary.
Replace the thermostat.
Remove internal deposits by flushing.
Check for leaks and repair.
Flush out coolant system.
Check and adjust belt tension.
Top up expansion tank with specified
coolant mixture.
Check and adjust engine timing.
Calibrate pump on test bench to va‐
lues specified in calibration tables.
Clean filter unit and replace filter el‐
ement if necessary.
Adjust injection pump timing.
Overhaul injection pump and adjust
on test bench to values specified in
calibration table.
