1. Open the hopper cover with the mushroom handle
until the lock clicks into place.
Note
The hopper cover lock clicks into place automati-
cally.

2. Use a scraper or spatula to remove dry and flaking
deposits (ash, carbon and tar) from the hopper
walls and the inside of the hopper cover.
Note
■ Small surface cracks in moulded refractory con-
crete parts are normal. Such cracks have no
bearing on the function or service life of the
parts.
Shiny black deposits on the interior walls of the
■
hopper are normal. Deposits need not be
removed.
3. Open the ash door.
Empty the ash pan and clean the ash chamber
with a scraper or ash vacuum cleaner.
Use a scraper or spatula to remove dry and flaking
deposits (ash, carbon and tar) from the frame of
the ash door.
4. Clean the ash chamber and entry to the combus-
tion chamber.
5. Check the gaskets for wear and damage. Replace
these if required.
6. Reinsert the ash pan and close the ash door and
hopper cover.
