Connecting to External Devices
Playing an External Audio Device
with the Built-in Speakers
By connecting an audio device such as a smart-
phone to the instrument's [AUX IN] jack, you can
output the sound of the audio device through the
instrument's speakers. This lets you play the key-
board along with the playback of your audio device,
for practice or performance.
NOTICE
To avoid damaging devices, first turn on the power to the
external device, and then to the instrument. When turning
off the power, first turn off the power to the instrument, then
to the external device.

Connect the headphone jack of an audio
device to the instrument's [AUX IN] jack
by using an audio cable.

NOTE
If you are using a computer or a smart device such as a smart-
phone or tablet, you can also connect it to the [USB TO
HOST] terminal to play audio on that device from the instru-
ment (page 55).

Turn on the audio device, and then the
instrument.

Start playback of the connected audio
device.
The sound of the audio device is output through
the instrument's speakers.

Adjust the volume balance between the
audio device and the instrument.
Adjust the audio playback volume on the audio
device, then adjust the entire volume by rotating the
[MASTER VOLUME] control on the instrument.
NOTE
• To adjust the balance between the volume of the external
audio input and the volume of the Song/Style/Groove,
press the [KNOB ASSIGN] button, select Function 6, and
then turn Knob A (page 30).
• The audio input volume from the [AUX IN] jack can be
adjusted in the Function Settings (page 66, Function
068). If you increase the volume to more than 50, the
audio device sound might be distorted.

Play the keyboard along with the sound
of the audio device.
NOTE
You can cancel or lower the volume of the melody part of
audio playback. Refer to the procedure in "Using the Mel-
ody Suppressor. "

After finishing your performance, stop
playback of the audio device.

Using the Melody Suppressor

When you output audio from an external audio
device or a computer connected to the [AUX IN] jack
or the [USB TO DEVICE] or [USB TO HOST] termi-
nal through the instrument, this function lets you
lower the volume of the melody part of audio play-
back. You can use the function to practice the mel-
ody part along with the audio playback.
Make these settings in the Function Settings (page
66).
• Function 071 "Melody Suppressor":
Turns the Melody Suppressor function on and
off.
• Function 072 "Melody Suppressor Pan":
Adjusts the position for suppressing a melody.
NOTE
When an audio device is connected to the [USB TO HOST] ter-
minal, and "Audio Loop Back" (page 66, Function 070) is set to
OFF, the Melody Suppressor function cannot be used.
Using with a Computer or
Smart Device
By connecting a computer or smart device such as a
smartphone or tablet to the [USB TO HOST] termi-
nal, you can do the following.
• Transfer files, such as Songs and Styles
• Send and receive MIDI data
• Send and receive audio data (USB Audio
Interface function)
• Use smart device apps
For information on how to connect to a computer and
how to transfer data, refer to the Computer-related
Operations on the website (page 11).
