Section 3 - Installation

Electrical connection

The following connection recommendations are in-
tended to ensure safe and satisfactory operation of the
unit.
Cable and wire bundles that enter the MVVSD enclo-
sure must be routed to avoid interference with moving
parts. Minimum bending radius for the type of cable
being used must be observed.
All access covers, barriers, partitions, and similar com-
ponents that are temporarily removed during installa-
tion must be replaced.
Failure to follow the recommendations
could cause harm to persons, or dam-
age to the unit, and may invalidate the
warranty.
No additional controls, for example relays,
must be mounted in the unit. Power and
control wiring not connected to the unit
must not be run through the unit. If these
precautions are not followed electrical
noise could cause malfunctions or damage
the unit and its controls.

Control wiring

Wiring between the MVVSD and the YORK
OptiView™ control panel consists of six conductors
and a shielded communications cable. The six conduc-
tors are for the following:
• GND – Ground
• L – 120 VAC control power line side
• 2 – 120 VAC control power neutral side
• 24 – 120 VAC start signal from panel to MVVSD
• R24 – 120 VAC start signal return from MVVSD
to panel
• 16 – Motor controller fault signal from MVVSD
contact back to control panel.
• 53 – Motor controller 120 VAC supply to dry con-
tact in the MVVSD
In addition, the Modbus cable is comprised of three
conductors and a shield. Standard 20 gauge shielded
wire may be used.

Control wiring is not to be run in the same
conduit with power wiring.

Power wiring

Input power wiring terminals are designated L1, L2,
and L3, and output power wiring terminals are desig-
nated T1, T2, and T3. Do not run input and output wir-
ing in the same conduit. Connection cables must be of
the correct current rating as outlined by NEC or CSA.
Input and output wiring connections are NEMA 2, which
consists of two 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) holes for each phase.
The contractor must provide crimped lugs on the ends of
the wires to match the 3/8 in. bolt holes provided.
