Copper Tube
Apply plumbers
putty.

2. Install the Spout
Slip-Fit Spout
Remove the temporary nipple from the bath elbow.
Apply thread sealant tape to the bath elbow, then install a 1/2"
copper tube to extend from 2" (5.1 cm) to 2-5/8" (6.7 cm) beyond
the finished wall.
Smooth the edges of the copper tubing.
Loosen the setscrew from underneath the spout with a 5/32" hex
wrench.
Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant around the
spout base. Leave a small gap free of putty or other sealant at the
bottom of the spout base.
Slide the spout onto the copper tubing, push the spout base
against the finished wall, then carefully retighten the setscrew.
Remove excess putty.
Threaded Spout
Remove the temporary nipple from the bath elbow.
Apply thread sealant tape to the bath elbow, then install a 1/2"
nipple to the bath elbow to extend 4-1/4" (10.8 cm) beyond the
finished wall.
Apply thread sealant tape to the pipe nipple.
Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant to the spout
base.
