4. Caring for your Laundry

To appropriately care for your laundry, please study the various wash and dry programmes
carefully. Understanding the optimum use of the washer would help to care for your
laundry items and keep them in shape longer.
Check the garment label:
can be washed (eg. some wool
clothing items can ' t be washed)
can be machine-washed or dried
can be bleached
requires a particular type of detergent
or washing/ drying programme.
Separating your laundry:
White and coloured items
Laundry with colours that run, and
those that don ' t
Badly soiled clothing (needs stronger
washing programme) and those that
aren ' t as dirty. In this way, washing
cycles can be more efficient without
damaging clothes that are more
delicate and/or less dirty.
Items that attract lint (socks, swim gear
etc.) and items that produce lint (eg.
towels, certain types of sporting gear
etc.)
Separately dry large laundry and small
laundry items. For example, when bed
sheets and children ' s clothing are
placed in the same drying cycle, the
small size clothing would not be
effectively dried.
