(2) Grease replenishment method
The motor having an open bearing and
overgrease prevention structure has the
following two types of structures. Replenish
each type with the following procedure.
In either case, take caution to rotating parts
such as the shaft when replenishing or
discharging the grease.
a. When grease discharger is provided.
(a) Always dispose of the waste grease
before supplying the grease.
(b) Remove the grease discharger, and
dispose of the waste grease stored
inside. (Refer to Fig. 7 (a).)
(c) Remount the grease discharger, and
supply the designated amount of
grease from the grease nipple. After
the grease has been supplied, the
grease discharger does not need to be
removed until the next replenishment.
Supply the grease while running the
motor.
Follow
amount" indicated on the "Grease
lubrication procedures" nameplate on
the motor or Table 11 when supplying
the grease. When remounting the
grease discharger, take special care to
the direction. There is an arrow on the
handle, so make sure that the arrow
always faces the shaft. (When using
the
horizontal
discharger will be positioned below the
shaft, so the arrow will face upward.
[Fig. 7 (b)] If the discharger is installed
with screws, tighten the screws to the
state
before
removed.
(d) If too much grease is replenished, the
bearing temperature will rise, and
grease may leak from the shaft
penetration section. Always replenish
the designated amount.
(e) The grease discharger can be installed
on either the left or right. In this case,
remove the cap on the opposite side
using a flat-tip screwdriver as shown in
fig. 7 (c), and change the discharger
from the left to right or vice versa.
b. Tapered plug method
Remove the tapered plug from the waste
grease outlet as shown in Fig. 7 (d), and
gradually
replenish
running the motor. To discharge the old
contaminated grease, do not close the
waste grease outlet for approximately 20
minutes after supplying the grease. Close
the tapered plug after the old grease has
discharged naturally.
