A RULE OF THUMB – To skip steps 2 thru 7 above during future Wi-Fi configurations,
always update the Wi-Fi settings of the GarageSmart™ device first, before modifying the
Wi-Fi settings of the router since the two devices would already be on the same Wi-Fi
network.
Visit www.garagesmart.net/videos/to view a video on how to Configure the
GarageSmart™ Device to a secure Wi-Fi network.
1.
If you do NOT have access to your routers Wi-Fi settings or if your router doesn't allow the changing
of the Network Name (SSID) or Password, then contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) on how
to change these Wi-Fi settings or contact GarageSmart™ for assistance on configuring the device
properly.
2.
Changing the Network Name (SSID) and Password of your router is only temporally, as your router
needs to initially establish communications with the GarageSmart™ device by being on the same
Wi-Fi network. Once, initial communication has been established, the GarageSmart™ device can
then be updated to your routers existing secured Network Name (SSID) and Password.
3.
The last known Network Name (SSID) and Password of the GarageSmart™ device may either be its
factory default setting (for new factory devices that have never been configured yet) or the current
Wi-Fi Network (SSID) and Password that your router is set to (assuming that your routers Wi-Fi
settings haven't changed). However if the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) or Password of the
GarageSmart™ device is unknown, then contact GarageSmart™ for assistance on configuring the
device properly.
