- Page 5 1. Turn the speaker volume down, and use an XLR cable to connect the microphone to a preamplifier, mixing board, or recorder. Note: Recording directly into a computer requires an XLR-to-USB adapter such as the Polsen XLR-USB-48. 2. Turn the phantom power on.

For the best recording results, the microphone should point directly at the sound source. Vocalists and announcers should be positioned approximately 6 to 12 inches from the microphone. For close vocal miking, use the included pop filter to prevent vocal pops or plosives.
