This outboard motor is equipped with the
Yamaha Security System to protect against
theft, which consists of the receiver and re-
mote control transmitter. The engine can not
be started if the security system is in the lock
mode, and only be started in the unlock
mode. Consult your Yamaha dealer for instal-
lation of the receiver.

WARNING
If the engine starts in gear, the boat can
move suddenly and unexpectedly, pos-
sibly causing a collision or throwing
passengers overboard.
If the engine ever starts in gear, the
start-in-gear protection device is not
working correctly and you should dis-
continue using the outboard. Contact
your Yamaha dealer.
The remote control unit must be equipped
with a start-in-gear protection device(s). This
device prevents the engine from starting un-
less it is in neutral.

items, or loose heavy or metal objects in
