6.4 Modbus TCP connection
A 7KN Powercenter 1000 supports up to 3 Modbus TCP connections simultaneously via the
Ethernet interface and 1 additional Bluetooth connection in parallel. This means that
different software applications are able to communicate with the data transceiver. This
however, is advised against.
Note
It is recommended to always only use one Modbus TCP connection operatively so that it does
not result in an overlap of commands.
The information of the individual metering and communication-capable SENTRON circuit
protection devices via Modbus TCP is addressed in 2 levels:
1. Device address of the individual devices
2. Register address within the devices
The device address is automatically issued (see Chapter Device addressing via Modbus TCP
(Page 61)) in powerconfig continuously. If required, it can be adjusted e.g. for an existing
user program.
A measured variable or status is addressed via a register address. In addition to the register
address, other description information such as format, is provided.
