Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing,
operating, or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER
!
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Turn off and lock out all power supplying this device before
working on this device.
CAUTION
Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with
certified components.
Important notice
The products described herein are designed to be components of a customized
machinery safety-oriented control system. A complete safety-oriented system
may include safety sensors, evaluators, signaling units and concepts for ensur-
ing safe switch-off. It is the responsibility of each manufacturer to ensure the
correct overall functionality of its systems and machines. Siemens AG, its sub-
sidiaries and affiliates (collectively "Siemens") are not in a position to guarantee
all of the characteristics of a given system or product not designed by Siemens.
Siemens accepts no liability for any recommendation that may be implied or
stated herein. The warranty contained in the contract of sale by Siemens is the
sole warranty of Siemens. Any statements contained herein do not create new
warranties or modify existing ones.
Areas of Application
The position switches described in this document are suitable for use in poten-
tially explosive areas in zone 22 (Device Group II, Device Category 3D) and in
zone 21 (Device Group II Device Category 2D).
Position switches with plastic actuator heads may not be used in areas in
which propagating brush discharge is anticipated.
Mounting (Dimension Drawings see Figure 1.1, Dimensions in mm)
Possible changes in the mode of operation
All drives can be exchanged for other types. All drives can be offset by 22.5 °
(depending on the setting of the drive and the enclosure form).
The twist lever can have an offset of 10 ° to 10 ° on the drive shaft and can be
shifted by 180 °.
Securing against movement (fastening)
When used as a safety position switch, there must be a positive connection
between the mounting surface and the enclosure. When mounted with elon-
gated holes, alignment pins or stops must be additionally used.
Overrun protection
The position switches must be arranged such that they cannot be damaged by
being hit or run over. Therefore, they must not be used as mechanical stops.
The height of the linear stem or the cam must be less than the overall travel in
the switch so that no mechanical stress is placed on either the switch or its
mounting.

The cable routings (M20 x 1.5) must be sealed carefully to prevent a reduction
in the degree of protection according to DIN VDE 0470 and IEC 60529. Screw
blanking caps onto any unused cable routings. Protective conductor connection
in the metal enclosure.
Changing device (Figure 1.2)
Mount intermediate plate (b) to the position switch (a). Mount base plate (c) at
the mounting position. Mount position switch and fix in position with locking lever
(d).
Cable entry
CAUTION
Only cable entries which fulfill the requirements of DIN EN 61241-0 may be
used. The cable entries must be assembled and mounted so as not to com-
promise the DIN VDE 0470 and IEC 60529 protection ratings. The unused
cable entries must be sealed with the screw plugs supplied.
Torque required: 1.1 Nm.
