Baseband electrical interfaces: Display(s)

The X-Gold213 DIF module provides the flexibility for the main processor to communicate with an external
display of various possible type of interface.
In order to establish communication to different displays the DIF supports the low-level part of the protocol
which can be configured via several registers. The low-level part covers the number of pins, their functionality
and polarity. It also covers the timing parameters for the serial or parallel access of reading from or writing
to the display.
The DIF module provides the following main features:
• Serial interface (supports up to 26 MHz clock rate)
• 8/9 bits high speed parallel interface with programmable timing requirements
• Multiple input formats possible: RGB up to 32 bit/pixel
• Hardware accelerator for physical protocol (pixel-bit conversion) allows to generate all common output
formats for various colour depths, for example (R,G,B) =(3,3,2), (4,4,4), (5,6,5), (6,6,6), (8,8,8).
• Provision of synchronization signals to eliminate tearing effects (only in combination with the parallel
display interface)
