  • Page 4 B. MESSAGE TO PARENTS & EDUCATORS What is coding? Computers can only follow logical step-by-step instructions. As a result, all computer code has to be designed in a very logical way. Writing instructions for computers is known as coding. In a broader sense, coding can be considered as the process of building a series of steps, in the form of simple commands, to complete a task.
  • Page 5 Smart design The CODEAMAZE Frozen II features a smart board design, on which Elsa always moves forward. Unlike other similar coding playsets, the CODEAMAZE Frozen II main board uses a grid play mat, allowing Elsa to move in precise distances, avoiding physical measurements that might confuse or disappoint young children still developing their spatial skills.

  • Page 9 1. Inserting the batteries & turning on the main board Insert the batteries and switch on the CODEAMAZE Frozen II. You are now ready to start your adventure. 2. Selecting the maze mat • There are three maze mats: EASY, MEDIUM and HIGH. Challenges for the EASY mat are generally easier than the MEDIUM and HIGH mats.
  • Page 10 3. Selecting the challenge levels • There are matching coloured challenge cards for each maze mat. In this example, we start with the EASY mat and select the challenge card for level 1. The mission is to instruct Elsa to solve the maze from point A to B.

  • Page 12 6. Coding Elsa With Elsa at the starting position and attracted by the inner mechanism, you can now plan and enter the code as described in the following sections. Elsa will then walk across the blank spaces on its mission. Elsa performs all the steps in the code.
  • Page 13 7. Storing the codes Once the code cards have been arranged, it is time to instruct Elsa to solve the maze. There is a scanner on the bottom of the main board.   • Page 14 8. Playing back the codes When all cards and steps have been stored, scan the PLAY card (the one with a triangle on it) to play back the code sequence. The CODEAMAZE Frozen II main board will play back the code, moving Elsa to solve the maze.
  • Page 15 9. ADVANCED challenges There is a set of ADVANCED challenge cards. The goal of the ADVANCED Challenge is to solve the maze in the shortest possible route, passing through the tree path and bypassing the other characters that blocked the way to destination. Solve the challenge level by level. You may apply the same principle (putting other obstacles on the maze mat) to create different challenges for your friends or family, or design different maze mats.
