Terminal box

WARNING
Ignition source in a potentially flammable atmosphere! Fire hazard!
Particular attention must be paid in A2L refrigerant systems as any work on
the energized terminals in the compressor terminal box could create an
ignition. Do not touch the energized terminals with a tool or cable when the
compressor is energized.
Compressors operating with flammable refrigerants shall use only the qualified
terminal box supplied with the compressor.
The terminal box is IP54 for all Stream 4M* and 6M* compressor models.
Cable glands have an influence on the protection class of the terminal box. The use of appropriate
cable glands is strongly recommended in order to maintain the IP protection class.

Electrical protection

Independently from the internal motor protection, fuses must be installed before the compressor. The
selection of fuses has to be made according to VDE 0635, DIN 57635, IEC 269-1 or EN 60-269-1.

Compressor protection

All Stream 4M* and 6M* compressor models are factory-fitted with a compressor protection. The
standard scope of delivery contains the Copeland™ compressor electronics extended
compressor protection system from serial number 21E59371 ( May 2021) onwards.
Stream compressors can also be ordered in a version with the CoreSense Protection basic
protection system.

4.5.1 Compressors with Copeland compressor electronics

WARNING
Ignition source in a potentially flammable atmosphere! Fire hazard! The
electrical switch of the Copeland compressor electronics module is not an
ignition source during normal operation in an A2L-refrigerant system but could
become one if not installed properly according to installation instructions.
Copeland compressor electronics (formerly Next Generation CoreSense) is standard in all Stream
4M* and 6M* compressors. With active protection, advanced algorithms and features like fault history
and LED indicators, Copeland compressor electronics enables technicians to diagnose the past and
recent state of the system, allowing for quicker, more accurate diagnostics and less downtime.
