The Music app of the smartphone opens.
Via the Communication menu:

The telephone app of the smartphone opens.
Operating Android Auto
Android Auto can be used via iDrive and voice
operation.
Via voice operation:
1.
Press and hold the button on the
steering wheel, until the Google voice com‐
mand response is activated on the smart‐
phone.
2.
Say the commands familiar from the smart‐
phone.

Turning Android Auto on/off
Turning off:
1.
"COM"
2.
"Mobile devices"
3.
Select the smartphone with Android Auto
function.
4.
"Connection mode"
5.
"BMW iDrive"
6.
Select the entry to switch Android Auto off.
The smartphone remains connected as a smart‐
phone.
Turning on:
1.
"Apps"
2.
"Android Auto"
3.
"Confirm note"
4.
If necessary, confirm Connection mode on
the smartphone.

Detected devices are shown on the Control
Display.

Select the desired smartphone for Android
Auto.

Follow the instructions on the Control Dis‐
play.
The smartphone is being connected via

Exiting Android Auto
The following options are available for exiting
Android Auto without switching Android Auto off:

EXIT button with the BMW icon.

Principle
BMW provides mobility-based services and ap‐
plications in an app.
General information
You can find information on installing the app and
on its content, plus information on the BMW
ConnectedDrive customer portal, at www.bmw-
connecteddrive.com.
The app must be installed on the smartphone
you wish to use. The installation process de‐
pends on the smartphone.
To use all the features of the app, you will need
to register when you start it up; you only need to
do this once. The registration process creates a
personal ConnectedDrive account for you in the
BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal. If you al‐
