Special Sanding Plates
You can replace the standard supplied sanding plate (5) with
one of the special sanding plates that are available as ac-
cessories.
Special sanding plates are fitted in exactly the same way as
the standard supplied sanding plate.
Likewise, each sanding sheet is attached and removed in ex-
actly the same way as the original sanding sheet.
Louvre Sanding Attachment (see figure F)
The louvre sanding attachment (14) allows you to work on
areas that are particularly difficult to reach, such as slats on
windows, cupboards and doors.
Sanding Finger, Flat (see figure G)
The flat sanding finger (15) allows you to work on narrow
slits and tight gaps.
Sanding Finger, Oval (see figure H)
The oval sanding finger (17) allows you to work on curves,
hollow parts and concave surfaces, such as those found on
items of furniture, handrails and radiators.
Operation
Starting Operation
Inserting the Battery
Do not use force to insert the battery. The battery is de-
u
signed in such a way that it can only be inserted into the
power tool when it is in the right position.
Push the charged battery into the battery holder until it
clicks into place.
Switching on/off
Make sure that you are able to press the On/Off switch
u
without releasing the handle.
To switch on the power tool, slide the on/off switch (8) for-
ward so that "1" appears on the switch.
To switch off the power tool, slide the on/off switch (8)
backward so that "0" appears on the switch.
Battery Charge Indicator
The battery charge indicator (7) indicates the battery's state
of charge when the power tool is switched on. It consists of
three green LEDs.
LED
3 × continuous green light
2 × continuous green light
1 × continuous green light
1 × slowly flashing green light
If no LED lights up after pressing the button, then the battery
is defective and must be replaced.
Temperature-dependent overload protection
In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over-
loaded. If the power tool is overloaded or the permitted bat-
tery temperature is exceeded, the electronics of the power

tool will switch off until the temperature returns to within the
optimum operating temperature range.
The 3 LEDs in the battery charge indicator flash quickly
when the temperature of the battery is outside of the operat-
ing temperature range and/or the overload protection has
been triggered.
Practical advice
Remove the battery from the power tool before carry-
u
ing out work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance,
changing tool, etc.). The battery should also be re-
moved for transport and storage. There is risk of injury
from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.
Always wait until the power tool has come to a com-
u
plete stop before placing it down.
The material removal rate when sanding is primarily determ-
ined by the choice of sanding sheet.
Only immaculate sanding sheets achieve good sanding per-
formance and make the power tool last longer.
Be sure to apply consistent contact pressure in order to in-
crease the lifetime of the sanding sheets.
Excessively increasing the contact pressure will not lead to
increased sanding performance, rather it will cause more
severe wear of the power tool and of the sanding sheet.
To sand corners, edges and hard-to-reach areas accurately,
you can also work with the tips alone or with an edge of the
sanding plate.
Do not use a sanding sheet for other materials after it has
been used to work on metal.
Use only original Bosch-sanding accessories.
Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the Battery
Protect the battery against moisture and water.
Only store the battery within a temperature range of −20 to
50 °C. Do not leave the battery in your car in the summer, for
example.
Occasionally clean the ventilation slots on the battery using a
soft brush that is clean and dry.
A significantly reduced operating time after charging indic-
ates that the battery has deteriorated and must be replaced.
Follow the instructions on correct disposal.
