This manual explains the installation, configuration, operation and calibration of your concentration meter (B30 series), whenever settings are general for more models the B31 is called analyzer. For ease of reading and understanding, the manual is organized in logical steps, divided over several chapters and sections.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 INSTALLATION Installation Introduction Purpose: Installation of B31 unit and cables. The B31 is a 24 VDC powered standalone sensor with RS232 output, Modbus RTU protocol CAUTION: Installation should be performed by skilled installation technicians (mechanical and electrical).
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 INSTALLATION Back plate 2.2.2 Mounting B31 B31 consists of three parts. These are provided as a whole. Before mounting the back plate to a wall, in another housing, etc. the three parts have to be separated.

RS232. 2.3.6.1 General remarks The PLC has to be configured as Master (Client - asks) by the customer. The Rhosonics Analyzer is configured as Slave (Server - answers) at the factory. No matter what PLC brand is used, to set up the communication protocol /cabling/settings etc. is always part of the work.

B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 OPERATION Operation Introduction The Operations for the analyzer can be divided in 2 options each with its own user interface: • Operations on the LCD screen, see chapter 3.2 • Operations through the USB-port, see chapter 3.3 The choice for each user interface is dependent on the type of user.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 OPERATION 3.1.1 Functionality per user interface Each User Interface has a different set of functions. They are categorized based on access level and accessibility of each type of user interface. Functionality Button / USB stick...
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 OPERATION LCD screen 3.2.1 Schedule operation LCD screen The LCD screen in combination with the buttons support a low access level functionality. Because of its location which is close to the process it is possible to do basic calibrations.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 OPERATION 3.2.3 Status analyzer Status of the device is displayed according NAMUR recommendation NE107. Each backlight color and icon describes a different status. When a button on the sensor is pressed the screen goes from time out to active. When a button isn’t pressed for a while the screen goes to time out.

B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CONFIGURATION Configuration Introduction The Configurations for the analyzer can be divided in 2 options. • Operations on the LCD screen, see chapter 4.2 • Operations through the USB-port, see chapter 4.3 LCD screen On the LCD screen there are several configurations possible.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CONFIGURATION 4.2.3 Decay time Smoothing is strongly recommended, since it gives the device more accuracy. In addition, rapid changes in concentration are smoothened, hence the output value gives a better indication of the “bulk” value of the liquid.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CONFIGURATION 4.2.6 Access Code To enter the Advanced Function and all function after the Advanced Function page a higher Access Code is necessary. Access code for level 2 is 1802. To enter this Access Code please follow below procedure: •...
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CONFIGURATION 4.2.8 Liquid Select On the Liquid Select page you can choose 2 options: • Water measurement: only water can be measured, polynomials for water are standardly stored in the analyzer. • Normal operation: a set of polynomials is loaded into the analyzer. This setting is specifically for its application.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CONFIGURATION Load and read settings via service app Loading settings and sensor data happens in the factory and is only necessary if some configurations need to change which are not present on the display.

B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CALIBRATION LCD SCREEN Calibration LCD screen Calibration Menu In the Calibration Menu you can choose out of three calibrations: • Temperature • Conductivity • Sample 5.1.1 Temperature calibration On the temperature Offset Menu page you will see the measured Temperature and you can enter the temperature Offset.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 CALIBRATION LCD SCREEN Span Menu page: • Enter temperature Span using buttons. • After entering the Span press the button. 5.1.3 Sample calibration Sample calibration is unlike other calibrations on the B31. Because acid and salt have to be calibrated simultaneously it is impossible just to enter span factors.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 MAINTENANCE Maintenance Replacing a cell and / or analyzer box CAUTION: Using force to mount the box on the connector will damage the connector beyond repair. CAUTION: Only use Ø12 mm tube / pipe, otherwise the process connector will be damaged.
B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 MAINTENANCE Updating sensor settings after replacement • Put the stick with the sensor settings 4BSENSOR.CSV in the analyzer. • Load sensor settings provided with the sensor in the analyzer via load sensor settings in the diagnostics menu.

B30 Series – Concentration Meter B31 DIAGNOSTICS & SERVICE 7.1.2 Restore calibrations Preparations Please read this section carefully before starting! On this page you can restore all calibrations to the factory calibrations. CAUTION: Pay attention before pressing . When accepted, all settings, calibrations and configurations will be lost and reset to the factory settings.
For trouble shooting this is the proper way to solve the problem: 1. Check System Status and inform Rhosonics / the Distributor 2. Save a log-file and analyzer settings and send them to Rhosonics / the Distributor 3. Restore factory settings, only when Rhosonics tells you to do so.
