GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Star Galaxy Easy Guard, 8.0 K-Factor (17/32 ori-
fice), Sprinklers are standard coverage, glass bulb type
spray sprinklers. The SG (5 mm bulb type) Sprinklers are
"standard response", and the SGQR (3 mm bulb type)
Sprinkler are "quick response". The Easy Guard Sprin-
klers provides a unique factory assembled guard or guard
& shield, and its double groove frame design allows instal-
lation of the sprinkler without having to first remove the
guard or guard & shield, saving time and labor cost of
field installation.
Sprinklers with guards may be located in areas that make
them susceptible to being struck, so as to help prevent
damage to the sprinklers.
Intermediate Level Sprinklers (i.e, sprinklers with shields)
are primarily designed for use in rack storage sprinkler
systems, where their thermally sensitive elements must
be shielded from the water spay of higher elevation sprin-
klers which could operate earlier during a fire. Intermedi-
ate Level Sprinklers are also used in applications such as
beneath open gridded catwalks.
WARNINGS
The Star Galaxy SG Easy Guard Sprinklers described
herein must be installed and maintained in compliance
with this document, as well as with the applicable stand-
ards of the National Fire Protection Association, in addi-
tion to the standards of any other authorities having juris-
diction. Failure to do so may impair the integrity of these
devices.
The owner is responsible for maintaining their fire protec-
tion system and devices in proper operating condition.
The installing contractor or sprinkler manufacturer should
be contacted relative to any questions.
