Removing and Replacing Parts
in the Midsize System
T
his chapter provides procedures for removing the components, assemblies,
and subassemblies in the Dell OptiPlex Gs or Gs+ midsize computer. If you are
servicing a Dell OptiPlex Gs or Gs+ low-profile computer, use Chapter 4,
"Removing and Replacing Parts in the Low-Profile System."
Unless otherwise noted, each procedure assumes the following:
You have performed the steps in "Precautionary Measures" found later in
this chapter.
You have removed the computer cover.
You can replace or reinstall a part by performing the removal procedure in
reverse order unless additional information is provided.

ecommended Tools
Most of the procedures in this chapter require the use of one or more of the fol-
lowing tools:
Small flat-blade screwdriver
Wide flat-blade screwdriver
Number 1 and number 2 Phillips-head screwdrivers
-inch nutdriver
1/4
Tweezers or long-nose pliers
Chip removal tool
Also, use a wrist grounding strap as explained in the next section, "Precaution-
ary Measures."
