To avoid damage and injury, when working at a height it is advisable to use the Hilti retaining strap.
The retaining strap allows a securing cord or leash to be attached.
National regulations applicable to working in high positions must be observed when working with the
tool.
1. Remove the battery.
2. Insert the two tabs on the retaining leash into the slots on each side of the base.
3. Secure the retaining leash with the screws supplied.
4. Refit the battery.

Dismantle the Hilti retaining leash (optional)
1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the two retaining strap securing screws.
3. Pull the two retaining strap tabs out of the slots in the base and remove the retaining strap.
4. Refit the battery.

Observing the safety instructions
WARNING
Risk of injury! Unintentional starting.
▶ Remove the battery before inserting, changing or removing the punch, die or other parts.
WARNING
Risk of injury Risk of eye injuries when drilling and punching.
▶ Wear eye protection when drilling and punching.
WARNING
Risk of injury! Risk of injury caused by flying fragments.
▶ When punching holes, take care to ensure that no persons are within the immediate vicinity of the punch,
as these persons could be injured by flying fragments in the event of material failure.
▶ After punching, when the tool has switched itself off, do not switch the tool on again as this could result
in the punch coming into contact with the die. This could cause breakage of parts, resulting in injuries to
persons caused by flying fragments.
WARNING
Risk of injury! Risk of injury caused by flying fragments.
▶ Do not use the punch when threaded parts are not fully screwed on.
WARNING
Risk of injury! Risk of serious injury during the punching operation.
▶ Keep your hands and fingers well away from moving parts while punching. Reaching into the punching
area could result in crushing injuries or severed fingers.
▶ It is essential that the safety instructions are observed.

Punching holes up to 4"
1. Determine the exact position of the hole. To predrill the hole, use a drill bit of a diameter slightly larger
than that of the draw stud.
2. Select the required punch.
3. Select the corresponding die.
4. Select the required draw stud.
5. Check that the piston in the tool is fully retracted. Assemble the complete punching set, making sure that
the cutting side of the punch is facing the sheet metal. Screw the punch in so that it makes light contact
with the sheet metal.
6. Insert the battery.
