3M™ Hard Hat L-705 with Welding Shield
1) The L-114 is the Reinforced Chin Strap. The L-114 chin strap must be
used in the L-700 and L-900 series headgear in order to comply with
ANSI Z89.1-2003 Protection from Side Impacts. Replace the chin strap
when it is worn, torn or damaged. To remove it:
a. Unscrew the L-140 or L-145 Knobs.
b. Remove the L-146 Welding Knob and Pivot Kit.
c. Remove the chin strap attachment plate from the pocket that
contained the cam clip.
2) The L-129 is the Flame Retardant Welding Bib. It should be replaced
when it is excessively worn or anytime it is torn. To remove it:
a. Pull the bib away from the two 3M™ Scotchmate™ Strips at the
rear of the headgear.
3) The L-120 is the Flame Retardant Faceseal made from SoftGuard®
DTP Disposable Thermal Protection material or the L-124 is the
Flame Retardant Faceseal. Replace either faceseal whenever it is torn,
worn excessively or has lost its elasticity. To remove it:
a. Unhook the faceseal from the tabs on each side of the extender.
b. Unhook the faceseal from the head suspension.

4) The L-153 is the Welding Shield. It should be replaced when it is
damaged. To remove it:
a. Unscrew the L-145 Welding Knob on either side of the welding
shield and remove it from the cam. Welding knobs should be
replaced when they are worn or missing.
b. Remove the welding shield.
