Recording Audio

Recording Audio
The camcorder features 2-channel AAC audio recording and playback. You can record audio using the
built-in microphone, the mini advanced shoe and optional DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone or
the MIC terminal (commercially available microphones).
When recording outdoors in the open, the built-in microphone may record loud audible wind noise. In
such cases, using an external microphone with a foam cover or wind screen is recommended.
The audio signal will be output along with the video signal from the HDMI OUT terminal. You can

record this audio signal on an external recorder.
Operating modes:

Using an External Microphone

Using the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone
Using the DM-100 you can accurately record audio coming directly from the direction you are
recording. In either case, to reduce the amount of noise due to wind, we recommend that you use the
wind screen supplied with the microphone.
Attach the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone to the mini advanced shoe.
º will appear on the screen. For details about using the optional external microphone, refer to the
instruction manual of the DM-100.
Using Commercially Available Microphones
You can also use commercially available condenser microphones
with their own power supply. You can connect almost any stereo
microphone with a  3.5 mm plug but audio recording levels
may vary.
The camcorder will record audio from the built-in microphone
unless an external microphone is connected to the MIC terminal.
