Internet Service Provider. ISPs are compa-
nies that provide internet access, often
through a modem-to-modem phone line con-
nection.
Local Area Network, an interconnected set
of computers and other devices, in an office
for example.
A phone line, usually "rented" from a phone
company, which is dedicated to the sole use
of the "renter." Internet access speeds are
faster using a leased-line, because there is no
bandwidth sharing.
