2. Diagnostic information

Start

CAUTION: Unplug power cord from the printer or electrical outlet before you connect or disconnect any
cable or electronic board or assembly for personal safety and to prevent damage to the printer.
Disconnect any connections between the printer and PCs/peripherals. The printer and the finisher are
heavy and require at least two people to lift it safely. Make sure your fingers are not under the printer
when you lift or set the printer down.
CAUTION: If the printer is kept on, never touch the conductive parts while it is not specifically required. The
power switch and inlet of the low voltage power supply card (LVPS card) assembly is live even while the power
supply is cut off. Never touch the live parts.

When operating the driving units using the diagnostics or other tools, be sure to keep them covered
unless otherwise specified.

Using service checks

It is assumed in the finisher service checks that the printer controller RIP card assembly is normally functioning.
If any trouble cannot be corrected by troubleshooting, refer to the Printer Service Manual.
To determine the corrective action necessary to repair a finisher, look for the following information:
