nosis routine must be completed
before the error will be displayed.
The following unusual driving
conditions may lead to automatic
deactivation of BMW Motorrad
ASC:
Driving on the rear wheel
(wheelie) for a longer period.
Rear wheel rotating with the
vehicle held stationary by ap-
plying the front brake (burn-
out).
Warm-up on the center or aux-
iliary stand at idle or with gear
engaged.
The ASC is reactivated by
switching the ignition on and off
and then riding at a speed above
5 km/h.
If the front wheel loses contact
to the ground during extreme
acceleration, the ASC reduces
the engine torque until the front
wheel touches the ground again.
BMW Motorrad recommends
that you respond to this condi-
tion by twisting back the throttle
grip somewhat to return to stable
dynamic operating conditions as
quickly as possible.
On a slippery surface, the
throttle grip must never be
suddenly turned back completely
without pulling the clutch at
the same time. The engine's
braking torque could cause the
rear wheel to lock, resulting in
unstable motorcycle conditions.
This case cannot be controlled
by BMW Motorrad ASC.

Tire pressure control

(RDC)

with Tire Pressure Monitor
OE
(TPM)
Operation
A sensor located in each tire
monitors the air temperature and
the inflation pressure inside the
tire and transmits this information
to the control unit.
The sensors are equipped with
a centrifugal controller that sup-
presses transmission of the mon-
itored data until a speed of ap-
prox. 30 km/h is reached. The
--
display shows "
" for each
tire until the tire-pressure sig-
nal is received for the first time.
The sensors continue to transmit
the measured values for approx.
15 minutes after the motorcycle
comes to a stop.
If a TPC/RDC control unit is in-
stalled without the wheels being
equipped with sensors, a fault
code is output.
