Digital audio connections can be used with another DVD player, DAT players, and CD players.
The DCP501 has three digital inputs: a single coaxial input and two optical inputs. Optical 2
(Digital Audio In) is located on the front panel and is linked to Video 2. Coaxial and Optical 1
are located on the rear panel and can be assigned to any one of the VCR 1, VCR 2, or Video 1
inputs by using the INPUT SETUP screens. See the "Operations" section for information on
using the INPUT SETUP screens.
If you are connecting audio equipment that uses Dolby 5.1 or DTS, be sure to connect the digital
output of the equipment to either Coaxial or Optical 1. Do not connect the equipment to any
other audio input.
When making digital audio connections, it is not necessary to make connections from both the
coaxial and optical digital outputs to the same component. When making an optical connection,
use a Toslink optical cable.
