1. Clean the area to be treated before treatment. Remove any ointments
applied and then re-apply after treatment.
2. A small wound which is a few days old can be healed with 6 - 8 treatments.
3. Wounds in areas of the body which are not well supplied with blood
require particular attention. In this case preventative measures should
be combined with the treatment with the Medibeam light treatment unit.
The underlying causes must also be removed (e.g. for wounds on a foot:
padded shoes). Follow the instructions of your doctor with regard to medi-
cation, ointments and treatment in addition to irradiation with the light
therapy unit.
4. Irradiate the part of the body to be treated for 6 - 8 minutes with the switch
in the CW position followed for a further 6 - 8 minutes in the PULSE po-
sition. The treatment can be repeated up to three times per day at intervals
of at least four hours. It is usual to carry out treatment in the morning and
the evening. Satisfactory results can also be achieved with one treatment
per day.
5. Skin sections of more than 4 - 5 cm diameter must be divided into separate
sections. Each section should have a diameter of about 4 - 5 cm (see Fig. 4)
and treated as per step 4.
Only use continuous radiation (CW) when treating herpes simplex. The
treatment duration is 8 - 10 minutes, 2 - 3 times per day. Use spacer ring
for ease of use with the area to be treated situated in the centre of the ring.
When treatment is completed, switch off the unit by setting switch
CW/OFF/PULSE
